Arsenal and Bayern Munich draw 2-2 in Champions League quarter-final first leg

Bukayo Saka gives Arsenal early lead, but Serge Gnabry equalizes for Bayern

Leandro Trossard's second-half goal secures draw for Gunners

Arsenal and Bayern Munich played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners an early lead with a curling shot past Manuel Neuer, but former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry levelled for Bayern on the counter-attack.

Leandro Trossard restored Arsenal's lead in the second half, but Bayern pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded when Kingsley Coman's cross was turned into his own net by Arsenal defender Ben White.

The result leaves the tie finely poised heading into the second leg in Munich next week.

Arsenal started the game brightly and took the lead in the 14th minute when Saka cut inside from the right and curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Bayern responded well and had a number of chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal goal.

The Gunners doubled their lead in the 34th minute when Trossard finished off a fine move involving Fabio Vieira and Saka.

However, Bayern pulled one back just before half-time when Gnabry raced onto a through ball from Joshua Kimmich and fired past Ramsdale.

Bayern continued to press in the second half and got their equalizer in the 59th minute when Coman's cross was turned into his own net by White.

Both sides had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither could find a winning goal.

The result leaves the tie finely poised heading into the second leg in Munich next week.
