Missing Colorado Mothers Death Ruled Homicide

Suzanne Morphew's Remains Found After Three Years

Missing Colorado Mother's Death Ruled Homicide

Remains Identified Through Dental Records

The remains of Suzanne Morphew, a Colorado mother of two who went missing in 2020, have been found, authorities said. The discovery came more than three years after Morphew, then 49, vanished while on a bike ride in May 2020.

The remains were discovered in September in a remote area of Chaffee County. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed the identity of the remains through dental records.

The autopsy report, released by the CBI on Monday, determined Morphew's death to be a homicide. However, the cause and manner of her death have not yet been released.

Morphew's disappearance and the investigation and arrest of her husband became a true crime sensation, featured in mainstream programs like "48 Hours" and podcasts. Her husband, Barry Morphew, was initially charged in the killing but prosecutors dropped the charges in 2022, saying they had insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

The discovery of Morphew's remains has brought some closure to her family and friends, but the investigation into her death remains ongoing. The CBI is asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.

Suzanne Morphew's tragic story serves as a reminder of the devastating impact that violence against women can have on families and communities. It is a sobering reminder that we must all work together to prevent and end violence against women.
