How to Vote in the Czech Senate Elections

Voter Registration

To vote in the Czech Senate elections, you must be 18 years of age and a permanent resident of the Czech Republic. You can register to vote at your local city hall or town office. The deadline to register is 14 days before the election.

Voting Day

The Senate elections are held on the first Saturday in October. Polling stations are open from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. You will need to bring your passport or identity card to vote.

Voting Process

When you arrive at the polling station, you will be given a ballot paper. The ballot paper will list the names of the candidates running in your constituency. You can vote for one candidate by placing a cross in the box next to their name.

Counting the Votes

After the polls close, the votes are counted by hand. The candidate with the most votes in each constituency is elected to the Senate.

Senate Term

Senators are elected for a six-year term. The Senate is responsible for passing laws, approving the government budget, and ratifying international treaties.
