Joshua Brenet signs for Sparta: "Medical already passed"
After a free transfer from FC Twente, Joshua Brenet will continue his career at Sparta Rotterdam.
The experienced right-back was medically examined on Tuesday, after which he signed a contract until June 30, 2024.
Brenet, who played 13 international matches for the Orange squad and played for PSV, Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt, among others, was able to train with Sparta for a few days. The technical staff was quickly convinced of his qualities.
"Joshua is a player with a lot of experience at the highest level. He is a strong defender with attacking qualities and can play in multiple positions in the back," said technical director Gerard Nijkamp on the club's website.
Brenet is happy to be back in the Eredivisie. "Sparta is a nice club with a rich history. I am convinced that I can make a valuable contribution to the team here and I am looking forward to the matches in the Eredivisie," said the 28-year-old defender.
Brenet is the second reinforcement for Sparta this summer. Earlier, Arno Verschueren was taken over from FC Volendam. The Rotterdam team finished in tenth place in the Eredivisie last season.
